Development Matters and EYFS

LiveBright Kids provides new and exciting learning opportunities for children in the early years. This is how we do what we do in accordance with the EYFS and Development Matters structure:

1. The best for every child:

LiveBright Kids is for all children of all abilities. We pride ourselves in getting to know every child and their name. We always take time to connect with every single child at the beginning of each class.

2. High Quality Care:

We are first aid trained, hold enhanced DBS' and are fully insured. We take all health and safety procedures in the nurseries seriously and look out for the welfare of the children. We share our warmth, smiles, encouragement, kindness and love with all the wonderful children we work with.

3. Our Curriculum:

We have developed our curriculum to be fun, fresh, challenging, interesting and topical. Children are able to practice what they have learned every week with new things to explore. There are so many learning opportunities packed into every LiveBright Class!

4. Pedagogy: Helping children to learn:

There are so many different areas of learning in a LiveBright class. We praise and encourage the children to join in and do their best and always work with them at the level they are at.

5. Assessment:

Our classes allow staff to observe and make their assessments.

​

6. Self-regulations and executive function:

Children have the opportunity to watch a pose being demonstrated, remember it and take it in turns to perform it in the middle of the class. This requires the children to concentrate, remember, be patient and support their peers. We also practise lots of different techniques that allow children to regulate their energy and emotions.

7. Partnership with parents:

There is a new pose or exercise every single week. A PDF of this pose along with the EYFS links are sent to each nursery so it can be shared with parents and carers at home. 

Communication and Language:

Throughout our LiveBright classes, we discuss the topic we are working on. We ask children to tell us what they know and then add to it both in knowledge and vocabulary.

We always communicate in a positive, upbeat, level-appropriate way to aid understanding and interest.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development:

Our imaginative classes are structured so that the children are given the opportunity to act out daily activities that incorporate good habits, such as eating healthily, brushing our teeth, and getting some exercise. Children are encouraged to wait their turn, cheer on their peers, and contribute to the class all while being their beautiful selves! We practice lots of different techniques that help children manage their emotions and energy.

Physical Development:

This is at the core of what we do. We love to move our bodies in fun and imaginative ways. Our poses and relaxation techniques are inspired by yoga, and we are both highly qualified yoga teachers. We also dance, jump, skip, hop and wiggle like worms!

Literacy:

We introduce literacy skills in our preschool sessions. We read affirmation cards, sound out our names and clap syllables in the long words we learn. 

​

Mathematics:

There are always opportunities for counting and doing simple sums in our sessions!

​

Understanding the World:

Our yoga classes will always have a theme which we discuss, and this helps children to understand the big and small worlds they live in.

​

Expressive Arts and Design:

We learn so many songs and sing and dance in all our sessions. We have two special classes where the children can work together to make a big picture in the middle of our circle using movements and props.
